CMA CGM Straits to Yangoon feeder upgraded as MCC joins
MCC Transport, the APM-Maersk Group’s intra-Asia specialist carrier, has joined this week CMA CGM’s ‘Bengal 2’ Straits to Yangoon feeder (also known as ‘Myanmar 2’ feeder) as a vessel provider.
So far, MCC and its sister company Maersk Line had only been slot buyers on the service. Maersk and MCC, who used to market their slot participation on the CMA CGM loop under the name ‘CM3’, will now brand the enhanced loop as their ‘RG1′.
At the same time, a second vessel has joined the services’ fleet, which so far only consisted of a single ship. Vessel number two, the 1,118 teu MALTE RAMBOW is provided by MCC and joins the 650 teu MOROTAI, provided by CMA CGM, or respectively its subsidiary Feeder Associate System.
With a fleet of two ships instead of just one, the ‘Bengal 2’ / ‘RG1’ has been upgraded from one departure every 12 days to weekly fixed-day sailings. At the same time, the round trip duration has been increased from 12 to 14 days.
The service’s rotation remains unchanged with the exception of a new Singapore call and reads as follows: Singapore, Yangon, Port Kelang, Tanjung Pelepas, Singapore.
