Effective mid-September, Korea’s KMTC will begin to take slots on the CMA CGM and CNC operated China – Indonesia – Philippines service ‘CHN’. The Korean’s will join a large number of carrier’s that already buy capacity on the service, including Evergreen, Yang Ming, Mariana Express Lines, MOL, RCL, TS-Lines, Gold Star Line, Zim and NYK.
The ‘CHN’ turns in 28 days with four ships of about 3,500 teu. It trades along the following port rotation: Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Chiwan (Shenzhen), Jakarta, Surabaya, Manila, Hong Kong, Qingdao, Shanghai.
It appears quite likely that KMTC’s slots are part of a wider exchange arrangement with CNC, since the later will simultaneously begin to market capacity on a KMTC operated Korea – China – Malaysia loop.
