Evergreen and Coscon to slow down Far East – South Africa ‘FAX’ service

Evergreen Marine and Coscon are in the process of slowing down their joint ‘FAX’ service, a loop with links China and Taiwan to South Africa with underway calls in the Straits area and at Mauritius.

The service’s rotation is to be stretched by one week from 56 to 63 days. Since the port coverage remains unchanged, the extra week will be entirely consumed by slow-steaming and additional time in port. Since no extra ship will be brought in, at least for the time being, the loop will skip one sailing of every nine-week cycle. The service’s average weekly capacity will thus decline accordingly.

The port rotation of the ‘FAX’ remains: Ningbo, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Yantian (Shenzhen), Singapore, Tanjung Pelepas, Port Louis, Durban, Cape Town, Singapore, Kaohsiung, Shanghai, Ningbo.

Eight gearless panamax-beam vessels in the size range from 3,351 teu to 4,210 teu are employed on the loop, five provided by Evergeen and three by Coscon.
