Sinotrans has taken delivery this week of the first of two 1,048 teu ships, which the carrier ordered in April 2011 at the South Korean shipyard Daesun. The new container ship was handed over under the name SINOTRANS SHANGHAI.
The Chinese carrier will deploy the ship on the China-Japan-Korea service ‘Kanto’, which is offered in cooperation with SITC. Each of the two shipping lines provides one vessel to the loop and the new SINOTRANS SHANGHAI will replace the 953 teu SKY PRIDE. The new ship will trade alongside the SITC-operated FORMOSA CONTAINER NO 4.
Sinotrans’ second Daesun vessel is scheduled for delivery in September.
