EMMA MAERSK to return to service on 18 July

Following an incident which flooded the ship’s engine room and which forced the vessel out of service for more than five months, the 15,500 teu EMMA MAERSK is to return to service soon. The giant vessel is to leave the shipyard at Palermo next week and position to Tanger Med, where she will phase back into Maersk Line’s Far East to Europe loop AE10 on 18 July.

Launched in 2006 at Odense shipyard, EMMA MAERSK and her later sisters were the world’s largest container ships for over six years. They lost this record in late 2012, when the first of three 16,020 teu ships for CMA CGM was delivered (see also: jumbo vessels, a fleet overview).
