The Mediterranean Shipping Company this week launched a new weekly shuttle service between Florida and the Dominican Republic. The new service links the port of Jacksonville with the port of Rio Haina. It turns in one week and it deploys one ship, the 1,083 teu STADT ROTENBURG.
MSC’s new service is the second direct link between the two ports and the only non-stop connection. It adds to the recently-revised Cagema mainliner service of CMA CGM-Delmas. The Cagema however, does not offer any northbound connection between the two ports under realistic circumstances, since this would require to ship cargo via the loop’s southern and northern turning points at Port-of-Spain and New York.
