The three largest carriers and line operators, Maersk Line, MSC and CMA CGM, have agreed on the principles of giant long-term operational alliance: the ‘P3 Network’.

According to plans, the ‘P3 Network’ will operate 29 loops and deploy 255 vessels with a total capacity of 2.6 million teu on three trade lanes: Asia – Europe, Trans-Pacific and Trans-Atlantic.

Maersk Line will contribute 42% of the capacity, MSC 34% and CMA CGM 24%, with vessels continuing to be owned and chartered by the lines.

To be finalized in the fourth quarter of 2013 for implementation in the second quarter of 2014, the ‘P3’ aims at improving operations and service offerings.
