Cheng Lie joins RCL in China – Thailand – Vietnam service

With immediate effect, Cheng Lie Navigation (CNC), the Intra-Asia arm of the CMA CGM Group of companies, is to become a vessel provider on the China – Thailand – Vietnam ‘RBC’ service, so far operated by Regional Container Lines and OOCL, which brands the service as ‘CBS’.

OOCL will withdraw the only ship it contributes to the loop, the 1,296 teu VICTORIA TRADER, and return the charter vessel to its owners. The Hong Kong-based carrier will retain a participation on the ‘CBS’ as slot partner. RCL will continue providing two 1,228 teu vessels while Cheng Lie will contribute the 1,471 teu KUO CHANG, as of 10 June.

The rotation is non affected and the three-week fixed day loop continues on the following path: Ningbo, Shanghai, Laem Chabang, Bangkok, Laem Chabang, Ho Chi Minh, Ningbo.

With this participation, Cheng Lie finds a replacement to the short-lived slot agreement on SITC’s ‘VTI’, where the CMA affiliate took slots for a mere two-month period.
