Maersk Line today announced the addition of a Khor Fakkan call to its West Med – Middle East ‘ME2’ service. The UAE-port is added after the Middle East Gulf rotation Jebel Ali, Dammam, Jubail, Abu Dhabi, Jebel Ali. At the same time, the present double call at Salalah, Oman, is reduced to a single ‘eastbound’ call.
The change is being introduced while the loop is undergoing a capacity upgrade, with 7,000+ teu vessels gradually replacing the former fleet of 5,600 teu ships.
The NEDLLOYD HUDSON will be the first vessel stop at the United Arab Emirates port on 10 June. The 5,618 teu ship will however leave the ‘ME2’ as part of the aforementioned upgrade and position from Khor Fakkan to the Far East. The first vessel to incorporate the port in a full ‘ME2’ rotation will be the 7,250 teu MAERSK SENTOSA, one week later.
The revised rotation of the loop reads as follows: Algeciras, Valencia, Barcelona, Genoa, Port Said, Suez Canal (way point), Jeddah, Salalah, Jebel Ali, Damma, Jubail, Abu Dhabi, Jebel Ali, Khor Fakkan, Jedddah, Suez Canal (way point), Port Said, Tanger Med, Algeciras
