The new ‘PC SUD’ is to turn in 6 weeks

The French Line CMA CGM has provided additional information regarding the lolo Tanger Med to West Africa loop, which replaced CMA CGM-Delmas’ ‘Atlantic conro service’ closed in May.

Contrary to earlier indications that the new weekly loop would turn in 28 days with four ships, the service will indeed operate on a 42-day round trip with six ships. Marketed as ‘PC-Sud’, the new West Africa alternative calls at Tanger Med, Pointe Noire, Port Gentil, Libreville, Tanger Med.

It is served by a fleet of six geared charter vessels in the size range from 1,550 teu to 2,064 teu. The largest of these is the 1998-built WESTERHAM, recently chartered by Delmas.

The larger-than-planned fleet will give CMA CGM and Delmas some more contingency to slow-steam or to make good for delays which may frequently happen in the West Africa trade due to port congestion.
