DAL joins sister company as slot-buyer on ‘IMMA’ loop

Deutsche Afrika Linien (DAL) today announced its participation as a slotter on the recently-opened Subcontinent to South Africa service ‘IMMA’, a joint operation by Evergreen and United Africa Feeder Line (UAFL). Both DAL and UAFL are part of the Hamburg-based Rantzau / Essberger Group. While DAL is part of the group since it exists, UAFL was only acquired by the Germans in June 2011.

The Subcontinent to South Africa was launched in April this year. It turns in six weeks and offers one sailing every two weeks. It is maintained by three geared vessels with capacities between 2,100 and 2,600 teu of which Evergreen provides two and UAFL one. The loop sails along the following rotation:

Karachi, Mundra, Colombo, Port Louis, Tamatave, Durban, Maputo, Nacala, Karachi.

DAL’s slot-buying will begin immediately. The carrier will however not participate in the Indian Ocean Islands calls and its slots are limited to Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and East Aftrica
