The Greek non-operating owner Technomar has taken delivery of the 6,673 teu compact wide-beam vessel KATHERINE, number seven of eight sister vessels ordered by Technomar (four ships) and its compatriot International Maritime Enterprises (four ships) in 2011. Like all of her six sister ships, the KATHERINE has been chartered by Maersk Line.
The 270.00m long and 42.80m (17 rows) wide 80.000 dwt vessel series was built by Hyundai Samho of Mokpo, South Korea.
The Danish carrier will deploy the new ship to its Far East to South Africa Service ‘Safari’, a weekly loop maintained with a fleet of nine container ships between 6,600 teu and 7,500 teu, in cooperation with Marseilles-based CMA CGM. Including the KATHERINE, the loop will employ five of the 6,673 teu sisters from Hyundai.
