Maersk takes slots on MSC Israel – Black Sea service

As of the end of May, Maersk Line will begin to buy slots on MSC’s weekly Egypt – Israel – Russia service, currently served by the 1,384 teu sisters MSC EDITH and MSC MARYLENA on a 14-day round trip.

Maersk will be a slot partner between the Israel port of Ashdod and Russia’s Novorossiysk only, reviving an arrangement that existed until the third quarter of 2012. This offer, secured through slotting, appears to be the Danish carrier’s ‘back-up’ outside of the Citrus export season, during which it deploys own tonnage between Israel, Egypt and Turkey and the Russian Black Sea port.

As reported earlier, the dedicated high reefer ‘citrus’ of Maersk’s sister company Seago is coming to a standstill on 26 May.
