Maersk Line will launch a second intra-Baltic service later this month and introduce a weekly shuttle between Gdansk, Poland, and the port of Kaliningrad, Russia. The service will be operated by the 868 teu semi-open top feeder vessel RUTH, which is to perform her first voyage on 18 May.
The new shuttle will add to another weekly intra-Baltic sling that Maersk Line already bases at Gdansk. The existing service, operated by the 1,368 teu SÜDEROOG, calls at Gdansk, Tallinn-Muuga, St Petersburg, Riga, Klaipeda.
Both the existing feeder and the new service use the DCT container terminal at Gdansk, where they connect to Maersk’s weekly Far East-Europe-Baltic mainline service AE10, which deploys ships of up to 15,500 teu and which will soon see the first 18,270 teu vessel phase-in.
