Delmas adds Rouen call to Nigeria Express

The Le Havre-based carrier Delmas, member of the CMA CGM group of companies, wil add a call at Rouen to its Europe – West Africa service ‘Nigeria Express’. The introduction of the new call comes about one month after the closure of the Delmas-operated ‘Atlantic’ Northern – Europe to West Africa container and roro service, which called at the port every 18 days.

The CMA CGM group will thus call at Rouen with three weekly loops. In addition to the ‘Nigeria Express’, these are a Europe to West Indies loop and a Europe to ECSA loop.

Rouen is a river port that is accessible for small and mid-sized sea-going vessels. Located some 80 kilometres upriver from the Seine estuary port of Le Havre, it takes ships about four hours to steam to Rouen. While the port as such is not big, it continues to attract calls from smaller-scale roro, container and mpp services. Rouen’s main selling point is the proximity – about 100km – to the French capital of Paris with its ten million inhabitants.
