As reported earlier, Maersk Line announced last month a complete revamp of its West Med – ECNA offer, which sees – among other changes – the addition of Algeciras calls to two of Maersk’s Middle East – Med – ECNA services. Further to this, Maersk Line will boost its western Med feeder network with four loops that hub at Algeciras. In this respect, the Danish carrier announced the implementation of four feeder services:

  • Spain loop: Barcelona,Valencia, Algeciras;
  • Italy North loop: Genoa, La Spezia, Algeciras;
  • Italy South loop: Livorno, Salerno, Naples, Marsaxlokk, Algeciras;
  • France loop: Fos-sur-mer, Algeciras.

The Italy South loop will be completed with the addition of a Marsaxlokk (Malta) call to the existing intra-West Med service, served by two 1,700 vessels: EM SPETSES and KONRAD SCHULTE. Marsaxlokk will first be visited on 10 June. This additional call is made at the expense of Genoa, which will be last called on 17 May.

The France link is to be secured through a new shuttle, starting 24 May. Vessel deployment has yet to be announced.
