CMA CGM is making changes to its ‘ASAF’ Far East West Africa service with the planned addition of Maputo (Mozambique) to the eastbound leg, as of 16 May. The extra call is motivated, in particular, by demand from fruit exporters in the landlocked Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces of South Africa.
This addition is however made at the cost of the eastbound Cape Town call, which will be abandoned after a final visit by the 3,398 teu charter vessel TIM-S on 5 May. The port of Shantou was also removed from the 12 week rotation in mid-April.
The new rotation reads as follows: Ningbo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Singapore, Port Kelang, Durban, Pointe Noire, Luanda, Maputo, Port Kelang, Ningbo.
