Wan Hai Line, Evergreen, PIL and Coscon will open a new full container liner service between the Far East and the West Coast of South America. The service, marketed as ‘ASA’ or ‘WSA2’ respectively, is scheduled to launch in early May.
The new weekly loop will turn in nine weeks and it will employ a mixed fleet of panamax ships and small over-panamax ships in the size range of about 4,000 to 5,000 teu. The port rotation will stand as follows :
Kaohsiung, Shekou, Hong Kong, Ningbo, Shanghai, Manzanillo, Lazaro Cardenas, Puerto Quetzal, Buenaventura, Callao, Guayaquil, Manzanillo, Kaohsiung.
This rotation is quite similar to the rotation of the service run by Hanjin, CCNI and CSCL, in which Wan Hai just stopped its participation.
With this new service, the quartet of operators will have added a second string to their Far East – WCSA offer, as they already jointly operate a ten-week service on the same trade.
