Evergreen and CMA CGM are about to open a new service between South East Asia and the Red Sea. The loop will be branded ‘REX3’ by CMA and ‘SRS2’ by Evergreen, and it will call at:
Tanjung Pelepas, Colombo, Djibouti, Aden, Jeddah, Port Sudan, Djibouti, Colombo, Port Kelang, Tanjung Peleas.
The loop is expected to run in five weeks with vessels that have yet to be nominated. It is not yet clear whether both of the involved carriers will act as vessel providers or wheter one will limit its role to slotting on ships of the other.
This new service confirms the French carrier’s interest in Red Sea, as it adds to the existing ‘REX2’, jointly operated with CSCL, Hanjin and Yang Ming, connecting North China and Taiwan to the Red Sea.
It will however be the first Red Sea dedicated service of Evergreen, which hereby continues to show a strong interest for the region in a broarder sense, having recently open a Sub Continent – East Africa service ‘IDEA’ and being about to open its new ‘IMMA’ connecting Colombo and India to East Africa.
