Further to our recent report about the launch of two joint services of PIL and MOL, we can now provide some detail of the vessels which the carriers plan to deploy. As reported earlier, the Japanese MOL and Singapore’s PIL decided to team up on a Singapore to Mauritius and Reunion loop ‘IOX’/’IOI’ and a Singapore to Mozambique service ‘MZX’/’MZS’.
The ‘IOX’/’IOI’ is operated by both carriers and will turn in 28 days with four ships. MOL will provide the owned 2,839 teu sister ships MOL WISOM and MOL BRAVERY, while PIL wil contribute the 1,730 teu charter vessel HANSA PAPENBURG and the owned KOTA NEKAD of 1,800 teu.
The ‘MZX’/’MZS’ is operated by PIL with MOL as slot buyer. It will turn in 49 days with seven ships of between 1,510 and 1,800 teu. The fleet includes the owned KOTA ANGGUN and KOTA NAZIM, one chartered B170 type from Thor Dahl and three chartered Wenchong 1700 types from Leonhard & Blumberg.
